A serial sex offender who is due in court on rape allegations has gone missing with a 14-year-old girl who has not been seen for a week…
MailOnline — Police officers are searching for Stephan Andrew Cox, 26, from Columbus, Ohio, who is wanted in connection with the disappearance of Ruby Contreras, 14, from Texas. Ruby’s family alerted police after she failed to return home from school on April 24. They said this is strange behavior for her as they are used to her coming through the door at 4.12pm every day.
Officers conducted searches and canvassed the area surrounding the school but were unable to locate the teen. Investigators believe the pair took a Greyhound bus from Fort Worth to El Paso. Police say they have photos from a convenience store of the two together in Abilene which they plan to release.
Sister Jiovanna Contreras toldNBC: ‘
She always came home at 4:12pm every day. I was here waiting for her every day. She didn’t come home that day. I’m scared for her. I don’t know what this man is telling her. I don’t know what he’s doing. I’m just scared for her.’
Cox currently faces charges in relation to another 14-year-old girl from Pennsylvania, who stole her parents’ car to drive to Ohio to meet him. They had been having an online relationship for several months. He was charged in January with two counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor and is due back in court next week.
Detectives believe he is a dangerous person and that Ruby is not safe while she is with him. Cox is described as a Hispanic male who is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. Ruby is described as a Hispanic female who is 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 95 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
