31-year-old Gilbert, Arizona resident Tanner Vicory’s illicit affair with the 15-year-old boy was discovered by his mother who, suspicious of their relationship, scrolled through his cellphone for proof. Court records tell how the unnamed single mother not only found text messages with declarations of love from Vicory on a pre-paid phone, but inappropriate instant messages between the two on a Yahoo! account.

Shocked by her discovery, she alerted Gilbert police which led to Vicory’s arrest at her home on West Orchard Way in East Valley. She was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail, reported AZCentral.com.

Gilbert police Sgt. Bill Balafas told ABC-15:

‘If something feels uncomfortable, you need to head it off at the pass. You always need to know where your kids are. As parents, we need to be on-guard 24-hours-a-day with our children.’

The police report detailed a confession made by the teenager that ‘he had consensual sex with Tanner Vicory on at least 10 occasions over a period of three months when he lived in Arizona.’

The report also noted that before the woman and her son moved our of state, Vicory had been dating her elder son. When he was sent to prison with an unknown conviction however, she struck up an affair with the teen.

Between November 2011 and April of this year, as her boyfriend remained incarcerated, Vicory and her new lover met up regularly though police also confirmed that this was the extent of their relationship. She did not play any kind teaching, mentoring or caregiving role in his life they told The East Valley Tribune.
